BIM (Building Information Modelling) is made up of an intelligent 3D model-based process that allows architecture, engineering and construction professionals to have a better insight and the tools used to be more efficient in planning, design, construction and management of buildings and infrastructures. The power of the cloud and machine automation; along with the Internet, big data and the use of other technological advances are changing everything we do including the construction industry. Learn more about how BIM can help you optimise your projects and company processes.

Choose the right software

Fundamentally BIM is contribution of technology and processes. Sherlayer provides a Common Data Environment which is one of the key components in helping an organisation achieve BIM Level 2. A CDE for BIM creates value through collaboration for all stakeholders and combines efforts of people, processes and technology. It brings together all the information about every component of a building into one central data environment and makes it possible for anyone to access that information for any purpose. It creates more efficient, collaborative workflows that give all stakeholders a clearer vision of the project and increases their ability to make more informed decisions faster. Using CDE software will improve efficiency and the quality of work you complete. Collaboration is one of the most important in a project that must be considered.

What is BIM Level 2?

In the UK, the Government Construction Strategy May 2011, states that ‘…Government will require full collaborative 3D BIM (with all project and asset information and data being electronic) as a minimum by 2016’. This will represent a minimum requirement for Level 2 BIM on centrally procured public projects from 1st April 2016.
