How do I check out a file, make changes and check it back in?

To update or alter a document you can either just update it or you can check it out first and then check it in. To check out this, you must state the reason for check out and the length of time you intend to keep it. Once you have finished making changes to the document, you simply check it back in by uploading the new revised version back into the File Vault.

How do I invite someone to a project?

If someone you’re working with needs access to a Sherlayer project you’re on, and they’re already a Sherlayer user, the system admin can invite them to it.

What are documents 'awaiting approval'?

These documents have been assigned to you as part of a workflow. You’ll need to review these documents, and either approve or reject them.
You can locate pending approvals in your alerts area.

What is the difference between outstanding and overdue tasks?

When another project participant sends a message, they can select an option from the ‘Response Required’ dropdown and set a date by which they need recipients to respond to the task. Duties that need your response will appear in your Tasks as either Outstanding or Overdue. Outstanding tasks are those that you need to respond to by a certain date. Overdue tasks are those that have passed their response-required date and you haven’t yet responded. You can review the list of your items that require your action by checking your tasks/alerts.

Why are some of my files not showing in the advanced search?

When using the advanced search function remember to be located in the particular area that you wish to search whether it be the route folder or the container areas. Advanced searching in the route folder outside of all areas searches across all areas.

BIM Level 2 FAQs

What is a CDE for BIM level 2?

Level 2 BIM is distinguished by collaborative working – all parties use their own 3D CAD models, but not necessarily working on a single, shared model. The collaboration comes in the form of how the information is exchanged between different parties, and is the crucial aspect of this level. Design information is shared through a common file format, which enables anyone to be able to combine that data with their own in order to make a federated BIM model, and to carry out interrogative checks on it.

Does Sherlayer make me compliant with BIM Level 2?

Can I access previous versions of a model from Sherlayer
